LingoBlend begins with something you chose — a news article, a blog post, song lyrics, a recipe, or any URL. You paste it in a language you already know, then move the slider to decide how much gets translated, anywhere from a light 10 percent to a dense 80 percent. Basic Blend is unlimited on the free plan; Smart Blend uses AI to pick the words that fit the sentence.
Because the target-language words are woven into text you brought, every line stays anchored to meaning you already grasp. That is the diglot weave technique (Burling, 1968) and Krashen's comprehensible input at work: you absorb new vocabulary fastest when it arrives one small step past what you know, inside a story you actually want to finish.
Tap a word, save it, keep going
The blended page reads normally, with the learning-language words highlighted. When you reach one you don't recognize, tap it. LingoBlend shows the translation, the base form, and the grammar context behind an inflected word — its tense or conjugation — then saves it to your dictionary in a single tap, without breaking your reading.
You can grow that dictionary outside the app, too. Select text in any app with the share extension, right-click a word on any website with the Chrome extension, scan a menu or book page with photo OCR, or import a CSV, plain-text, or Anki list. Practice saved words until they stick
Saved words don't just sit in a list. They feed five practice games — Flashcards, Matching, Fill in the Blank, Listening, and Word Quiz — scheduled by an Anki-style spaced repetition system based on SM-2. A new word returns after 10 minutes, an hour, then eight hours, graduating to intervals of 1, 3, 7, 14, 30, 60, and 120 days as you prove you remember it.
On Pro, the Word Story game writes a short story from your own saved words, which you can read or hear as narrated audio, followed by a five-question comprehension quiz. The loop stays simple: read the content you choose, save the words you meet, and review each one right before you would have forgotten it.
